We really won in Vietnam!

Darkness drips down the corridors of time
My soul reaches out to pull others into this void
Winds howl outside, but the shutters are drawn tight
Dreams are my defiance of reality, and as such they defy me, deny me
Visions of outside fade, as darkness falls around
Even crystal mirrors fall in time to shatter
And each shard carries a part of the whole, trapped for eternity
Each broken fragment striving for clarity, oneness
When we give these pieces consciousness, they must compete for wholeness
For in being separate, alone, they are only shards
And time is just a broken mirror in the darkness, no light to find the way
As we tread barefoot down the hall

Opal lamps reveal faded
    shatter of blue
        moon; basking in

Spiral lives like onions
each layer holding tears
until all layers become one.
The collapse into singularity
follows an irregular pattern
like the impossible bumblebee emerging
from a fractal snowflake.
Across turbulent oceans
the listening serpent
once heavy with death
sheds his skin.
Two souls adrift in chaos
like hermit crabs
each new nautilus shell
a beginning and a forgetting
no matter how distant, still
strange attractors.
